From hip hop to classical and punk, pop to folk and jazz - plus everything in between - music plays a significant part in the fabric of Belfast, making it a vibrant city to live in or visit.

The tour begins at the iconic Ulster Hall, known locally as the ‘Grand Dame of Bedford Street’ and a legend in the history of Belfast’s entertainment scene. You will explore some of the venues that are important in Belfast’s musical history and today, including traditional bars, historic buildings, open air performance spaces, its main arena venues - and even a church!

Your guide, Dolores, a passionate local music fan and qualified Belfast Green Badge Tourist Guide, will help you to understand Belfast’s rich musical heritage and will explain the city’s different musical traditions and their roots.

You'll have good craic and hear stories about iconic music moments, characters and local legends - past and present. Listen to snippets of music along the way and find out about some of the city’s rising stars of contemporary music, the traditional folk scene, classical music, jazz and more!

The tour ends with a visit to the Oh Yeah Music Centre, Belfast’s own dedicated music hub. Here you will have time to browse the Oh Yeah’s Music Exhibition, before settling down to enjoy an exclusive 25-minute performance by Clara Tracey.
