Join us for the launch of How We Stand… How We Breathe, a powerful series of seven new music “interventions” created by composer Brian Irvine and writer-director John McIlduff (Dumbworld) in collaboration with the Ulster Orchestra and an extraordinary range of groups from across Northern Ireland.
Recorded live over three days in Ulster Orchestra’s new home back in March, this one-off event marks the first public screening of the films, bringing participants and audiences together to experience them collectively for the very first time. After the launch, the films will be made available to stream online, allowing the work to be shared widely beyond the room.
From choirs and rappers to poets, improvisers, and community collectives, these pieces explore identity, belonging, equality, fear, joy, and the rituals that connect us. Each work is the result of deep co-creation, blending the voices, ideas, and lived experiences of diverse “micro societies” - from schoolchildren and carers to LGBTQ+ singers, refugee choirs, and youth ensembles.
This will be a vibrant, moving celebration of creativity, collaboration, and human connection - a gathering that reflects the many ways we stand, breathe, and create together.
