Drummer Andy Coles had a vision as far back as 2009 of what he wanted a band to sound like and began recording his ideas. While on tour as FOH sound engineer for ASIWYFA in 2010, a conversation developed between him and bass player Johnny Adger, who both had very similar ideas about a slow paced, down-tuned metal project. This took place in the back of the 7.5 tonne vehicle they were travelling in and the wheels were literally set in motion. 7.5 Tonnes of Beard was born.

Although performances until now have been sporadic, high profile headline shows and support slots to bands including Mutoid Man, Eyehategod and Sikth were evidence enough to anyone that witnessed them that Beard was no joke.

Almost 15 years on from it's initial inception, 7.5 Tonnes of Beard continue to refine their sound, creating a completely enveloping atmosphere at their live shows that needs to be experienced. The music is intense yet uplifting and the performance is delivered with total conviction. Bleak and painful at times, yet somehow beautiful throughout.
