Join alt-folk musician Alana Henderson to celebrate the long-awaited release of Fine - her independently made, co-produced debut album.
Rooted in dark folk but reaching towards the more adventurous edges of indie songwriting, Alana’s live world is driven by tenor guitar underpinned by subtle electronics that leave space for her clear, compelling voice. Her trademark cello: plucked, chopped or swooning and swelling around sharply observed lyrics. Rich, organic arrangements, skewed harmonies and unexpected melodic details.
This new collection is intimate, clear-eyed and unafraid to leave the mess in. Fine is an album of “showing her workings” - unravelling the careful performance of being okay when you are anything but, and asking what it might take to say “I’m fine” and genuinely mean it.
Across songs of regret, anger, nostalgia, self-sabotage, revenge fantasy and drinking to forget, Henderson brings fierce emotional honesty to richly detailed alt-folk arrangements. There is no easy resolution here - just the bracing relief of telling the truth.
The launch of Fine will bring the new record to life for the first time with a full band - including singles “Once in a House on Fire”, “Appetite” and Alana’s most recent single - “Not Going Anywhere,” - an atmospheric, searching reflection on leaving, staying and learning to trust your own inner compass.
